The Belushi Pisano Gallery in downtown Vineyard Haven is Martha s Vineyard s newest art gallery. Kicked off with a preview on Dec. 15, the gallery opened its newly painted doors to observers and collectors interested in a variety of work by well-known local and national artists. Featured are a collection of paintings, mixed media, handcrafted furniture, sculpture, glass, and jewelry.

The Belushi name is a prominent one, but gallery co-owner Judith Belushi Pisano hopes that this will not conjure up an image of a strictly elite crowd, which might deter some people from coming. On the contrary, from its aesthetics to its purpose, the gallery has a warm, inviting ambiance, and it is not-for-profit.

The gallery is a new subsidiary of The Second Chance Foundation. Established by Ms. Belushi Pisano in 1991, the foundation has served the Island community since then, providing assistance to individuals with financial difficulties while also encouraging an appreciation for the arts.

What a gorgeous structure the pictured barn must have been in its hay day, before that Something went to work. Without attentive care and knowledge, the structures we call home will eventually succumb to that devilish Something.

Come visit us during maple sugaring season in March and early April. Our sugarhouse is always open for visitors, and on weekends our sugarhouse restaurant serves homemade pancakes, waffles, corn fritters, and many other special maple goodies. Try a stack of French Toast made with fresh homemade bread, topped with justmade maple syrup. Because maple sap flow depends on just the right weather conditions, you may want to call ahead and see if we are boiling when you plan to visit.

Historic Northampton
Historic Northampton is a museum of local history in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley of western Massachusetts. Its collection of approximately 50,000 objects and three historic buildings is the repository of Northampton and Connecticut Valley history from the Pre-Contact era to the present.

Historic Northampton constitutes a campus of three contiguous historic houses, all on their original sites. The grounds themselves are part of an original Northampton homelot, laid out in 1654.

The depth and breadth of Historic Northampton's collections attract historians, scholars and students of New England material culture from around the world. The museum's wide-ranging collection includes more than 10,000 photographs, documents and manuscripts from the 17th to the 20th centuries, fine art, furniture, ceramics, glass, metals, toys, tools and implements, and an important collection of textiles and costumes.
