REMOVABLE RAILS This range is fitted with an entirely novel kind of. detachable nickel-plated guardrails, which are easily lifted off for cleaning, or when blacking the range. Making these nickeled rails detachable is a new idea, which will be appreciated by every good housekeeper. In ordinary ranges the nickeled bands are held fast in place by bolts; they are not easily cleaned because they cannot be lifted off. In the Charm Crawford the nickeled guardrails are not closely fitted to the edges of the range, but have an open space behind them; so that they are cooled by free circulation of air. Crawford ranges are the only stoves, which have these desirable improvements.
THE CRAWFORD HEAT INDICATOR Which is furnished free with this range, shows the exact heat of the oven. Guessing the oven heat is not necessary. The indicator is located in the oven door, at convenient height to be easily seen. It is larger, and therefore plainer, than the ordinary style of oven thermometer. The engraving is about half size.
THE OVEN BACK Is triple; one thickness of tin, one of asbestos and one of cast iron. This improves the baking and saves coal; it also prevents waste of heat. The oven is "illuminated" by the tin lining. With Crawford "conveniences, half the worry and trouble of cooking is saved.
The mantel of this range has a full nickeled top surface; dishes placed upon it do not soil the snowiest table linen. All Crawford nickeled guardrails, shelves and trimmings are plated and finished at the Crawford factory. The nickel work is of very superior and lasting quality. The curved bow edges (patented) give the range a very handsome and finished appearance. The ornament is somewhat simpler than usually seen; the raised scrollwork is especially designed for ease of keeping clean. The guardrails removable for cleaning, and the broad plain surfaces, will be appreciated in every tidy kitchen.
The convenient broiler door is wide and high. The firebox is of ample depth and width, suited for quick baking, rapid heating of hot water supply, and keeping fire over night without difficulty. Crawford Ranges work well at any hour of the day or night.
A SINGLE DAMPER Controls the fire and oven. This single damper, or regulator, is moved by a knob, sliding in a groove in the top of the stove at the left of the smoke pipe. The kindling position is marked KINDLE. The baking position is marked BAKE. The position for checking the fire is marked CHECK. Nothing could be more easy or simple. Mistakes about dampers are entirely avoided. There is only one damper to think of. Other ranges have two dampers for the same purpose, which is confusing and sometimes spoils the baking. This new damper is applied only to Crawford Ranges.
A SIMMERING COVER Is furnished free with each range. This cover may be used in any location on the' top of the stove. It will be found very useful for many kinds of cooking which require a slow heat. It may be readily lifted off, if the entire top of the range is required for rapid cooking. This illustration shows the manner in which all the nickeled guardrails may be instantly detached if desired; in blacking the range this is a great convenience. This engraving shows the Charm Crawford with the doors open, to make its construction as clear as possible. The oven rack is adjustable at two heights; useful when the oven is crowded on baking day. The oven top is plastered, also the bottom of the lower flue beneath the oven; this is to save coal and make the oven better for baking. The upper flue is made with cup joint division to prevent heat leakage, and make the range quick working. Only Crawford Ranges have this new and necessary improvement.

The oven bottom, with this separate panel, does not warp; it is always flat and level. The front lining clamp is protected from the fire. Grates This It is easy The latest improved Crawford Dockash Grate is furnished with this range. The fire is cleared by a half revolution of the handle. The cogwheels are outside the firebox, protected from heat and dust.
The two bars of this improved dockash grate are of the same pattern; no troublesome rights and lefts. Should either bar become worn in use, it is easily replaced in a moment and without sending for the stove man. In replacing grate bars it is not necessary to remove the grate rest, linings, waterfront or coil. These grates are very durable, being made of the same high-grade iron as the rest of the range. Some housekeepers prefer the triple grate, which is furnished if desired. It is very simple and easily renewed. The old-fashioned one-piece grate is also furnished. All these grates, dockash, triple or plain, fit the regular grate rest of the range. To change from one style of grate to another, it is not necessary to disturb the grate rest, linings, waterfront, coil, or any firebox parts.

This improvement is not found in other ranges. To heat water very fast, when the oven is not in use, the reservoir damper is opened and the smoke then passes around the copper lining. For moderate hot water supply, however, the damper is kept closed. The copper lining does not then become sooty on the outside, and may without soiling the hands be lifted out for washing.
