Manufactured in the 1800’s, the Ship Stove was designed specifically for ships. The two foot tall cast iron and porcelain stove served as both a heater and a cooking range, providing warmth and comfort for sailors. The antique stove features an oven and two large cooklids. Wiring would loop through the knobs on the top of the stove preventing pots and pans from spilling off of the stove if the waves were rocky. Bolts nailed through the holes in the feet of the stove fastened the stove to the floor, keeping the stove from sliding around the cabin in turbulent seas. The shiny black exterior, which is baked on porcelain enameling, is easy to clean. Draft controls below the wood box help to regulate the heat. This authentic Ship Stove, which served its duty on a ship many years ago, would be a trusted companion to have when sailing away into the sunset, or for simply enjoying the view of the sunset from a landlocked home.
